Methylene chloride, also known as dichloromethane or DCM, is a colorless organic compound with a pungent odor similar to ether. Its chemical formula is CH2Cl2. This compound is formed by replacing two hydrogen atoms in methane (CH4) with chlorine atoms. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in ethanol and ether, it is a non flammable low boiling point solvent under normal usage conditions and is commonly used to replace flammable petroleum ether, ether, etc.
