Benzoic Acid Powder CAS 65-85-0 is a mono-functional, romatic acid, which is widely used as a building block for the synthesis of alkyd resins. It is also used as a preservative in many industrial applications, such as antimicrobial agent of latex, toothpaste, jam, dyeing and printing mordant, pharmaceutical and Dye Intermediates for preparing plasticizer, spices and the like, rust inhibitor of steel equipment and so on.

Applications

1. Food industry (as a preservative)

Preservative effect: Benzoic acid and its sodium salt (sodium benzoate) are commonly used food preservatives (E210, E211), which can inhibit the growth of mold, yeast and bacteria, and extend the shelf life of food.
Applicable foods: carbonated beverages, fruit juices, pickles, condiments, jams, etc.

2. Medicine and Daily Chemicals

Benzoic acid powder is used as an external antibacterial agent (such as ointment for treating fungal infections, tinea pedis spray).
As an intermediate, it is used to synthesize various drugs, such as antibiotics, diuretics (such as furosemide), etc.
