Tertiary Butanol TBA (Tert-Butyl Alcohol ), also known as tert-butanol, forms four isomers of butanol with n-butanol, isobutanol, and secondary butanol. Has a camphor-like odor, is hygroscopic, flammable, and has a higher toxicity and narcotic than other alcohols. Soluble in most organic solvents, such as alcohols, esters, ketones, aromatics and aliphatic hydrocarbons, and water can form an azeotrope. These properties make tert-butanol a useful solvent and additive and one of the petrochemical products with a wide range of applications.
