1. 4-Methyl-2-pentanone MIBK is an excellent medium boiling solvent.
2. It is used as a dressing agent, as a solvent for oil dewaxing, as a color forming agent for color films, as a solvent for tetracycline and pyrethroids and DDT, as an adhesive, rubber glue, and as a coating for aircraft and models.
3. Methyl Isobutyl Ketone is also an effective separation agent for some inorganic salts, separating plutonium from uranium, niobium from tantalum, and zirconium from hafnium.
4. Its peroxides are very important initiators in the polymerization of polyester resins.
5. MIBK Solvent can also be used as an anticoagulant and diluent for vinyl resins
