CAS 80-62-6 Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) is a colorless, volatile liquid. It is slightly soluble in water and most organic solvents.

MMA monomer is a polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) monomer. It is also copolymerised with other vinyl monomers to produce materials with different properties. MMA is used in the manufacture of PMMA, coatings, lubricating oil Additives, plastics, adhesives, resins and wood wetting agents, as well as motor coil penetrant.

MMA Monomer Methyl Methacrylate for PMMA

The primary use of MMA monomer is in the production of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) homopolymers, commonly used for cast and extruded acrylic sheets. Additionally, MMA finds applications in safety glazing, exterior paints, impact modifiers, illuminated displays, and engineering adhesives.

CAS 80-62-6 MMA is also copolymerized with styrene and butadiene to make an additive to poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) that improves its properties. MMA is also transesterified to make specialty methacrylate monomers.
