CAS 141-53-7 Sodium formate is the sodium salt of formic acid. It is produced either by synthesis or as a by-product during the production of pentaerythritol. It is a white, crystalline solid. It can be used as a final product, a raw material, or an intermediate to produce other chemicals.

Applications

(1) Solid Sodium Formate is mainly used in the production of formic acid, oxalic acid and sodium hydrosulfite, as well as dimethylformamide. It is also used in the pharmaceutical and dyeing industries.

(2) It is used as a reagent for determining phosphorus and arsenic, as a disinfectant and as a mordant.

(3) It is used as a preservative.

(4) Sodium formate powder is used in alkyd resin coatings, plasticisers and strong solvents.

(5) It is used as an acid-resistant material, an aviation lubricant, and an adhesive additive.
