Tetrahydrofuran THF is an important organic and fine chemical raw material and is widely used as a solvent in resins (e.g. tape coating, PVC surface coating, cleaning PVC reactors, removing PVC film, cellophane coating, plastic printing inks and thermoplastic polyurethane coatings); as a reaction solvent (e.g. Grignard reagents, alkyl and aryl alkali metal compounds, aluminium hydride and boron hydride, steroid compounds and macromolecular organic polymers); 99.9% Tetrahydrofuran is used as a chemical intermediate (e.g. polymerisation to form PTMEG and natural gas odourants); and as a chromatography solvent (e.g. gel permeation chromatography).
