Methyl methacrylate (MMA, CAS 80-62-6) is an unsaturated ester. It is a colourless, transparent liquid at room temperature that is volatile, explosive and flammable; its volatile gas has a pungent odour. Liquid methyl methacrylate is soluble in alcohols, ethers, ketones, and chlorinated hydrocarbons; slightly soluble in aliphatic ethers and alcohols; and slightly soluble in water. It can also form azeotropes with water and methanol.
