CAS 111-46-6 Diethylene glycol (DEG) is an organic chemical with the formula HOCH₂CH₂O. It is a colourless, practically odourless, poisonous, hygroscopic liquid with a sweetish taste. It is miscible with water, alcohol and ethylene glycol. Diethylene Glycol DEG is primarily used as a gas dehydrating agent and an aromatic hydrocarbon extraction solvent. DEG chemical is also used in the synthesis of unsaturated polyester resins and plasticisers, as well as in the dissolution of nitrocellulose and oils.

Applications

1. Diethylene Glycol DEG is used as a raw material for paint, printing inks, solvents and dye dispersants.

2. It can also be used as a fibre wetting agent, pesticide dispersant, resin plasticiser, synthetic Organic Intermediate, etc.

3. DEG Chemical is used as an inactive diluent, metal detergent, paint remover, fibre wetting agent and drug extractant.

5. Diethylene Glycol DEG is used as a solvent for cellulose nitrate, resins, spray paint, quick-drying paint, varnish, enamel, and metal detergents. It is also used as a solvent with a high boiling point.
