Diethylene glycol (DEG) CAS 111-46-6 is an organic compound with the formula HOCH₂CH₂O. It is a colourless, practically odourless, poisonous, hygroscopic liquid with a sweetish taste. It is miscible with water, alcohol and ethylene glycol. Diethylene glycol (DEG) is used in various industrial applications. It is commonly used as a solvent and plasticiser, as well as in the production of other chemicals.

Industrial Grade DEG Applications

Diethylene Glycol DEG Liquid is mainly used in the production of polyester, polyester resin, moisture absorbers, plasticisers, surfactants, synthetic fibres, cosmetics and explosives. It is also used as a solvent for dyes and inks, and to prepare engine antifreeze and gas dehydrating agents. It can be used as a humectant for cellophane, fibres, leather and adhesives, and to produce resin. It can be used to produce synthetic resin, PET fibre or polyester fibre, and flake-grade PET for making mineral water bottles. Diethylene Glycol (CAS 111-46-6) can also be used to produce alkyd resin and glyoxal, and can be used as an antifreeze. As well as being used as an antifreeze for cars, it is also used in industrial refrigeration transport. It is generally known as a refrigerant carrier. It can also be used as a condensing agent, similar to water.
