CAS 100-42-5 Styrene, a class of organic chemical  with the formula C8H8, consists of a benzene ring and a vinyl group. Styrene is a colorless, transparent liquid that is flammable at room temperature and widely used in the chemical industry. The electrons of the vinyl group are conjugated to the benzene ring. Styrene liquid is insoluble in water but soluble in most organic solvents, such as ethanol and ether. It is an important monomer in synthetic resins, ion exchange resins, and synthetic rubber.

Styrene (CAS 100-42-5) was first discovered in 1839 by German chemist Eduard Simon, who isolated it by distillation from natural resin.

 

Styrene Monomer is mainly used as raw material for polystyrene, synthetic rubber, engineering plastics, ion exchange resin, etc. Styrene polymers and copolymers are usedextensively in making polystyrene plastics,polyesters, protective coatings, resins, andsynthetic rubber (styrene-butadiene rubber).
