CAS 71-36-3 N-Butyl Alcohol also known as n-Butanol, is a clear, colourless liquid with a sharp, musty odour similar to that of rubbing alcohol. Flash point: 53–77 °F. It autoignites at 371°C. The vapours are heavier than air and cause mild irritation to the eyes, nose and throat. Density is approximately 6.5 lb/gal. 99.8% N-Butyl Alcohol is used in the production of cosmetics, skin and hair preparations, pharmaceuticals, perfumes, lacquer formulations, dye solutions, antifreezes, rubbing alcohols, soaps, window cleaners, acetone, and other chemicals and products.

 

 

 

 

1, N-Butyl Alcohol is mainly used in the manufacture of phthalic acid, aliphatic dibasic acid and phosphoric acid of n-butyl ester plasticizer, they are widely used in a variety of plastic and rubber products, but also in the organic synthesis of butyl aldehyde, butyric acid, butyl amine and butyl lactate and other raw materials.

2, n-Butanol as oil, drugs (such as antibiotics, hormones and vitamins) and spices extraction agent, alkyd resin coating additive and organic dyes and printing ink solvent, dewaxing agent.

3, Solvent n-butyl alcohol is used to produce melamine resin, acrylic acid, epoxy varnish, used to prepare banana, cream, whiskey and cheese and other edible flavor.
