2-Ethylhexanol also known as 2-Ethyl-1-hexanol, 2-EH, is a clear, colorless to pale yellow oily liquid. It has a mild, oily, sweet, slightly floral odor reminiscent of rose and sweet, fatty-floral taste with a fruity note. Soluble in 720 times water, miscible in most organic solvents.

Plasticiser: 2-Ethylhexanol is a raw material for producing plasticisers like DOP and DOTP, which enhance the flexibility and processing performance of plastics.

Solvent and extractant: 2-Ethyl-1-hexanol is used as a solvent and extractant in printing, dyeing, paints, films and other fields, as a lubricant additive, diesel fuel additive and petroleum additive to improve lubrication and fuel performance, and in fragrances for rose, lily and other floral fragrances, as well as soaps.

Other applications: 2-Ethylhexanol 2-Eh can also be used as a Surfactant, defoamer, dispersant and stabiliser in various industrial fields, as well as for extracting and dispersing in mineral processing and oil extraction.
